The real life "Dave" Lacey was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario in June of 1951.

After graduating film school in 1975 he has spent the past 26 years working as a cameraman, and film and video editor in broadcast television and the video production industry.

For many years Dave's talents have been put to use drawing a wide variety of office birthday, and get-well soon cards for his fellow employees (for free of course). Always a frustrated cartoonist he has recently developed the 'Ron and Dave' comic strip in a desperate last ditch attempt at becoming rich and famous.

Today Dave lives in a small southwestern Ontario town with his wife of 22 years, Amy, and their son David Jr. Daughter Adrienne is off at college.

The real life 'Ron' lives in the frozen wastes of Northern Ontario with his wife of 28 years, Claire. Ron provides inspiration and encouragement for the Ron and Dave strip.
